BSc and MSc Thesis Advising
The database systems research group offers several interesting topics for a bachelor or master thesis. These topics focus primarily on aspects related to the management and analysis of scientific data. Specific topics include
- managing and mining moving object trajectories, with a focus on predictive queries and trajectory similarity search
- moving objects in higher-dimensional spaces (modeling and querying, including index structures)
- development of sensor data processing architectures based on standards of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC)
- real-time processing and analysis of sensor data streams (using Sensor Web Enablement concepts and techniques)
- data integration in the Geosciences, with a focus on integrating vector and object-based data from distributed and heterogeneous data sources
- semantic integrity constraints and constraint maintenance for geospatial data
- access control models and mechanisms for spatial and spatio-temporal data
In the area of Information Retrieval, we offer thesis topics focusing on
- temporal information retrieval aspects
- extraction of location and time information from documents
- development of graphical user interfaces in support of temporal document exploration tasks
Students interested in working on a thesis with members of the research group should contact Prof. Dr. Michael Gertz.
